STAFF from West Suffolk College helped ro raise more than £1,000 in a charity cycling challenge.

The Palace to Palace Challenge involved a 45-mile ride from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle to raise money for the Prince’s Trust.

Ten members of staff from the college took part, calling their team the West Suffolk Wanderers, and were mostly new to riding such a distance.

Sherry Fry, team captain and head of the college’s school of participation, said the atmosphere was fantastic as 3,000 cyclists took part to raise money.

The West Suffolk Wanderers have managed to raise £1,600 with money still coming in.

“This was a fantastic achievement.

“All the team had a great time and are keen to do it next year, hopefully with an even bigger team,” she said.

The cyclists were further educational professionals who work with young people to raise their aspiration.

Those taking part were Sherry Fry, Michael Nelson, Angela Whatley, Angela Gant, Cathy O’Brien, Martyn Wagner, Ola Anderson, Peter Harbron, Tom Thirkettle and apprentice Will Curtin.
