Developers wanting to build a ‘logical extension to Red Lodge’ have offered cash and land for a new primary school.

In a briefing to Forest Heath district councillors on Tuesday, Kathryn Slater, planning consultant for developers Crest Nicholson said Suffolk County Council had decided it wanted a second primary school in Red Lodge so Crest would give 0.81ha of land and £3.44 million funding.

It wants to build 371 homes on 17ha to the north of the existing development and on sites of 0.06ha and 0.8ha south of the village centre and has put in detailed planning application for the first phase of 106 homes.

The northern plot is a greenfield site but Ms Slater said: “It is clearly a logical extension to the Red Lodge/King’s Warren development.

“This site is located within the settlement boundary of a key service centre.”

The application will go before the development control committee on July 2.
