RAF Honington sends troops to help in the flood relief effort for southern England

RAF Honington has sent 233 of its personnel to help the flood hit Thames area it was announced today.

They will be supporting the relief efforts at Windsor as part of the joint military effort which has now swung into effect.

More than 1,650 military personnel are now in high readiness to help the effort across the south of England devastated by floodwaters

A spokeswoman for Honington said their team would be used in a range of tasks including helping with sandbags, security and giving relief to people in distress.

There are representatives of 1 and 2 squadrons RAF Regiment, 20 Wing RAF Regiment and the Support Wing at Honington now in place at Windsor.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service is continuing to work on the Somerset Levels using the county’s Uni Mog vehicle to help with rescue efforts there.
