RESIDENTS of Church Walks in Bury St Edmunds have received a major honour to recognise all the work they do to support the community.
Led by Simon Harding and Valerie Legg, they have been given the highest level award in the Royal Horticultural Society and Anglia in Bloom’s It’s Your Neighbourhood Campaign.
Since residents begin running plant stalls in 1999, they have proved almost unstoppable, raising more than £67,000 for countless local causes.
Mr Harding said: “The award is testament to all the residents and allotment holders who work together and are proud of their area.”
The award will be used as a benchmark for communities across East Anglia and further afield.
Mr Harding said: “It is good for our town, keeping it at the forefront in community involvement.”
