The Lake Avenue Post Office on Bury St Edmunds’ Mildenhall Estate is to be upgraded to a main post office.
The upgrade, which will involve two weeks’ renovation work, will allow the post office to offer more facilities, including vehicle licensing.
From when it reopens on August 1, the shop will also be able to offer its post office services the entire time it is open, namely 6am-8pm, instead of its current restriction of 9.30am-5pm.
Sub-postmaster and owner Paul Luke said: “I’ve done it so I don’t have to turn people away.”
He added that he was planning ‘something special’ for the reopening.
