Residents’ views wanted on plan

FOREST Heath residents are being asked for their views on how the district can build for the future.

Forest Heath District Council’s new Strategic Plan for 2012 to 2016 is being presented to councillors this month.

The Strategic Plan outlines the council’s proposals for improvements in the district.

The council now wants residents’ views on how it can meet housing needs, support communities and ensure services are value for money.

A consultation will run from October 20 to December 9.

James Waters, leader of the council, said the authority was ‘determined’ to tackle the economic climate.

“One of the key challenges is ensuring we can create the right conditions for economic growth alongside preserving the unique characteristics of the district.

“The new Strategic Plan sets out how we will target our resources for the benefit of the whole community and I urge local people and businesses to let us know how they feel we can make this work by taking part in our consultation during the next few months,” he said.

Residents can participate by filling out an online questionnaire, available at www.forest-heath.gov.uk

There are also questionnaires available in all council customer access points.

Councillors can also be contacted with comments and the council will be holding consultation events for businesses, partners, parish and town councils.
