Police resume search for missing Brandon man

Suffolk Police together with the Fire Service and Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue will resume a search of the Little Ouse River in Brandon today following a report of a missing man.

Robert Arnold, 65, from Beechfields in Brandon was reported missing to police on Thursday afternoon but has not been seen since 8pm on Monday 21 May.

Mr Arnold’s car has since been found in the Aldi car park at Brandon, which is near to the Little Ouse River.

Due to concerns for Mr Arnold’s welfare and the discovery of his car, police, the Fire Service and Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue began searching the Little Ouse River between the Aldi car park, off the High Street in Brandon towards Littleport yesterday.

They were aided by police helicopters, boats and dogs but Mr Arnold was not located.

This morning Fire and Rescue Service divers will be joining the search to assist police.

Mr Arnold is described as white, 5ft 6ins tall of medium build with short wavy fair hair, he has a beard, wears two hearing aids and it is thought that when he went missing he was wearing jeans and a quilted anorak.
