Police have released CCTV images of two men they wish to speak to following the theft from a shop in Bury St Edmunds.

The incident occurred at around 7.40pm on Monday September 15 at the Tesco Express in Stamford Court.

Two men approached the till and asked to buy 15 packets of cigarettes, handing over payment.

The cashier then counted the money and found that they had given him too much.

He tried to explain the situation to the two men and attempted to hand back the over-payment.

One of the men then pushed the cigarettes back across the counter indicating he wanted to cancel the entire transaction so the cashier returned all the money.

Two packets of cigarettes were subsequently found to have been taken during this process.

The first man is described as being in his early 30s, around 5ft 8in tall, of bulky build and with short dark hair.

He was wearing a brown jacket with a grey T-shirt underneath and spoke with limited English.

The second man is described as being in his late 20s, around 5ft 6in tall, of slim build, with short dark hair and wearing a black jacket.

Anyone who believes they may know these men is asked to contact the Bury East/West Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101 quoting reference BU/14/2696, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
