Police name 78-year-old woman who died in car crash

Police have named a woman who died in a car crash in Onehouse, near Stowmarket, on Sunday.

Doris Borrett, 78, of Abbotts Meadow, Woolpit, died in the single vehicle collision just before 5pm on Forest Road.

Her car, a red Daihatsu, had left the road and came to a stop in a ditch.

Fire crews, ambulance and the air ambulance rushed to the incident but Mrs Borrett sadly died on scene.

The road was closed and diversions put in place while an investigation was carried out.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Trust said the woman had suffered a cardiac arrest and that medics had tried to resuscitate her.

He said: “We were called to the scene at 4.58pm

“The casualty was a woman, the vehicle had ended up in a ditch.

“She was in cardiac arrest, the medical team gave her CPR but sadly she died at the scene.”

An East Anglian Air Ambulance spokesperson said: “Despite the best efforts of all those at the scene, unfortunately nothing could be done to help this patient.

“Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this sad and difficult time.”
