POLICE are continuing their investigations at a property in Plovers Way, Bury St Edmunds, after the discovery of potentially dangerous chemicals.
A 100 metre cordon was placed around the property and people living in Plovers Way advised to remain indoors as emergency services attended the scene.
Officers arrested a 21-year-old man from Bury St Edmunds on Tuesday night on suspicion of arson and blackmail and he is still in custody.
A statement issued yesterday said that a residential property had been searched and chemicals found inside.
The bomb disposal squad from Colchester was called to the scene as a precaution.
The Hazardous Area Response Team from the East of England Ambulance Service and Suffolk Fire Service were also called in.
Last night the cordon was lifted but police were continuing their investigations at the property today.
