POLICE have visited a mental health project to give residents important information on personal safety and home security.
PCSOs from Stowmarket Safer Neighbourhood Team went to the Together supported housing project, in Verneuil Avenue, Stowmarket, to speak to tenants with mental health issues who are trying to become more independent.
Officers gave residents advice and support on personal safety and home security over a cup of tea and slice of cake.
Nigel Moyses, one of the residents, said: “I think the informal nature of the visit really helped to put us at ease and allowed us to take in the importance of being vigilant and careful when it comes to security and safety.
“Being offered reassurance by the police that they are there to support us if we need, it has helped reduced anxiety among those living here, particularly when leaving the house.”
Andrea Stribling, Together project coordinator, said: “I think this police visit really helped individuals living at Verneuil Avenue feel confident about keeping safe and secure at home and in public.”
