Plans to reopen Plough Inn

Plans have been submitted to reopen The Plough Inn, in Lakenheath, as a restaurant.

Xuetao Huang, owner of Asian food company Wok n Rock, applied to change the first floor of the pub in Mill Street from residential to restaurant use in 2011.

Within his application he said that the restaurant would ‘promote healthy dining, responsible drinking, and bring a greater choice of food, drink and entertainment to the village’.

Mr Huang has now applied for planning permission to make the structural changes required to reopen the pub, which has been closed for more than a year.

If he is granted planning permission to make the changes, the first floor of the pub will be a formal restaurant and the ground floor will hold a buffet.

The structural changes will see toilets fitted on the first floor and access to the building improved. All materials used will be chosen to keep in with the existing character of the building.

The restaurant will not be able to offer a take-away food service or play music after 1am.
