An application to extend a Lakenheath housing estate has been submitted to Forest Heath District Council.
The proposal would see 67 dwellings, including 20 affordable homes, built on the site off Briscoe Way.
The properties will range from one bedroom flats to four bedroom houses.
Applicant Bennett Homes has said that during consultation 48 per cent of people supported the development.
However concerns were raised regarding the increase in traffic, the capacity of medical services, the lack of facilities in the village, the impact of construction on adjacent residents and the sewerage and water infrastructure.
Within its application Bennett Homes said it had employed independent engineers to produce a detailed transport statement and would work with local residents to ensure disruption during construction is kept to a minimum.
A further application submitted by Elveden Farms Ltd for 140 homes on land adjacent to Eriswell Road is under consideration. This application also prompted concerns about sewerage and water infrastructure.
A spokesperson for Anglian Water said: “We spoke to Forest Heath District Council recently and advised them our sewers would be able to cope with all of the development currently proposed for Lakenheath.
“We have a legal duty to provide water and sewerage services to any new development that is given planning permission in the future.”
