A coffee morning held by Phyllis Pettitt, of Hardwick Lane, Bury St Edmunds, in memory of her late husband Les raised £675, which she presented to Upbeat Heart Support at its annual fete on Saturday.

Phyllis, 75, started her annual coffee mornings six years ago and has now raised thousands of pounds for local charities.

Sylvia Baker, chairman of Upbeat, said the group was very grateful to Phyllis.

“The money will be well spent on providing exercise sessions at Newbury Community Centre and elsewhere for patients suffering from coronary heart disease.”
