A PETITION containing 120 signatures after a serious accident last month in King’s Road, Bury St Edmunds, has been handed over.

Chris Lale, who lives in Queens Road, set up an online petition after the crash on January 8 in which two people suffered serious injuries. A women is still in Addenbrooke’s Hospital where her condition is serious but stable while the man has been recovering at home after leaving hospital.

Mr Lale, who presented the petition to Steve Boor, St Edmundsbury’s borough engineer, said: “I walk down that road every day and sometimes it’s quite scary particularly when traffic comes close as the pavements are so narrow. The speed of the traffic is quite high and was a concern raised by people.”

Meanwhile a man arrested after the incident on suspicion of failing to provide a breath test, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision has been further bailed until March 7 when he is due to return to Bury police station.
