Orbit Housing has been granted permission to build a community centre and 20 affordable homes in Mildenhall.

Orbit Housing has been granted permission to build a community centre and 20 homes in Mildenhall.

Work on the centre, 18 affordable homes and two market rented homes in St John’s Close is expected to be completed by November 2014.

Maggie McCann, Development Director for Orbit Homes, says; “We are delighted to have received planning permission and look forward to starting work on the new homes and community centre this September.

“By working in partnership with Forest Heath District Council and Keystone Development Trust, we’ve been able to move this important scheme ahead. Once completed, the development will provide 18 much needed affordable homes, two market rented homes and a brand new community centre for the local people of Mildenhall.”

The 20 homes will be spread across five terraces with one detached property.

Nine of the properties will be two bedroom homes, nine three bedroom homes and two four bedroom homes.

Keystone is a trust that develops and manages projects to invest in local communities to tackle social and economic issues.

It will manage the community centre and rent the two homes to generate income for reinvestment in the local community.
