A SUPPORTED housing facility in Thetford has held a celebration to mark its first anniversary.
The festivities at John Room House on Wednesday included a showcase of some of the residents’ personal development work, which ranged from first aid certificates and volunteering experiences to poetry.
The residents prepared the food for the day, which also included a tour of the 10 bedsits and 12 self-contained flats that make up the facility.
St John’s Housing Trust provides accommodation, support and resettlement services for people who are homeless and vulnerable.
Barry Norman, operations manager at John Room House, said: “Some residents only stay three months, others longer, but the aim is to move them all on within a maximum of two years.
“The idea is that they move on to independent accommodation after their time with us.”
The facility is named after a John Room, an active local councillor in the 1980s and 1990s.
