A MEETING to consider the results of the parish poll on the future of Thetford Bus Station has been delayed to allow more time for consideration.
The delay comes after voters rejected plans to move the bus station in a parish poll on August 9 by an 80 per cent majority.
‘No’ campaigners have since accused the MTF board of ignoring the poll’s result - an outcome which is not legally binding.
But William Nunn, chairman of the MTF board, insists it will be seriously considered.
“We pledged that the result of this poll would be considered by the MTF board and we are working to ensure we do justice to that pledge by giving the result detailed consideration.
“The board does understand people’s concerns about change but everyone should rest assured that we are working to ensure the best for Thetford’s future,” he said.
MTF will use the three week extension to make sure that information can be gathered and presented to the board in detail.
The meeting will now be held on September 22 at the Keystone Innovation Centre.
