Three paintings in Glasswells’ charity art show have special meaning for the furniture store’s staff because they knew the late artist.

The Bury St Edmunds store is running an art exhibition until Sunday to raise money for St Nicholas Hospice Care and three paintings are by cancer victim Roy Salt, whose wife Sue has worked at Glasswells for nearly 10 years.

Work by his sister Jenny Hilton is also on sale there.

Kevin Robertson, Glasswells’ sales director, said: “Roy’s battle with cancer has touched us all and has made the exhibition even more personal.

“It is wonderful to think that some of the work that Roy lovingly created can be used to generate both funds and publicity for the hospice.”
