The ‘Big Batch’ paint factory in Stowmarket has celebrated 40 years of production since the first tin of paint rolled off the line.

Around 100 employees past and present attended the event at the AkzoNobel paint plant, formerly owned by ICI, on Tuesday.

Guests were treated to a guided tour around the facilities and came face to face with Spud, the Dulux dog, at a bash at the Cedars Hotel.

Site manager Steve Kelly said: “Our Stowmarket site is a world class facility in our company – we’ve continued to invest and upgrade the site – even coating our materials silo towers to stand out in the area.

“We are really proud of what we have achieved, and to continue to achieve, here at the site. This year is 40 years for Stowmarket – we’re still manufacturing paint here, and intend to continue to do so.”
