Leading charity Oxfam has officially launched its new premises in Bury St Edmunds.
The shop, on Cornhill, was opened by long serving volunteer Celia Hannaford and Ian Mathews, Oxfam’s head of retail, at noon today.
The charity has expanded into the larger premises after moving from Brentgovel Street, where it was based for nearly 30 years.
Mrs Hannaford, 77, who was involved in launching the original store and was volunteer manager for about 12 years, said: “We’ve waited a long time for a bigger shop so we’re really pleased we can make a bit more money for Oxfam.”
Oxfam Books and Music, in St John’s Street, will move into the vacated Brentgovel Street shop.
