A 22-year-old food lover has embarked on a quirky new business venture with the help of a classic French fire truck.

Phoebe Cripps, from Monks Eleigh, launched her catering company, My Kitchen Your Place, in January after spotting a gap in the market for food trucks offering a variety of locally-sourced products.

Late last year, Pheobe, who grew up at The Peacock in Chelsworth and Lavenham Greyhound, had the funding and the perfect vehicle to turn her vision into a reality.

“I dreamt up the idea about two years ago and, in the last nine months, it has really snowballed,” she said.

“It has been a lot of work but I’m sure it will all be worth it.”

Helping to give the fledgling catering business a unique presence at events is Phoebe’s 1975 Peugeot van which once served as a Saint-Tropez fire truck.

“I love the style,” she said. “I thought the van speaks for itself and I should go for something a bit different.”

As well as trading at Higham point-to-point and Nayland farmers’ market, Phoebe aims to venture into wedding catering with an offering of canapés and cocktails.

Without a fixed menu, she said she can provide a bespoke catering service tailored to each event, sourcing as much of her food as possible from local suppliers.
