Organisers of the annual St Edmunds Wheel Bike Ride are urging cyclists to sign up to go the extra mile for charity.

After more than 700 people flocked to the event last year, Ian Turner, trustee of St Edmunds Wheel, says their ultimate aim is to attract 1,000.

Held on Sunday June 8, five routes ranging from 15 to 100 miles will start and finish at the Abbey Gardens.

Meanwhile, 1,000 plastic ducks will be released into the River Lark for a race at 1pm.

There will also be live music, a barbecue and refreshments.

Mr Turner said: “It’s a nice relaxed happy-go-lucky atmosphere.”

Funds raised benefit local causes.
