ORCHARD Barn in Ringshall hosted its first ever Plum Festival on Saturday.
The rural skills development centre, which celebrates its fifth anniversary next month, put on a range of ‘plummy’ activities as well as having the orchard of trees to shade from the weekend heatwave.
Visitors were invited to take along their own plums for expert Dr Paul Read to identify and given the opportunity to learn about different plum recipes and foods from food historian Monica Askay.
Centre manager Sarah Partridge said: “The event was a collaboration between the Suffolk Traditional Orchard Group and the Orchard Barn Environmental Community Interest Company who run the Orchard Barn project.
“The day went very well although it was very hot.
“People were sitting in the orchard under the old trees to get shade – it is a lovely place to spend an afternoon.
