There are many divisions over the move to two-tier education in Suffolk.
What is at the root of everyone’s agenda is pupil care and achievement and that is to be applauded.
News this week (see pages 7 and 16) of a sensible pooling of talent, expertise and best practice across 21 of our schools is welcome.
The group will be looking at classroom issues, staff training, the curriculum and special projects which bring pupils together from the different schools. The group also wants to ensure that good teachers stay in the profession.
Amid all the upheaval which is expected across this part of Suffolk in the coming years, the needs of every one of our pupils must be paramount.
There’s no doubt that it takes a whole community to raise a child – that process begins with a rock solid base in school.
