The closure of the Tourist Information Centre in Bury in June is something of the end of an era.
The quirky little office on Angel Hill has been full of clever little gifts and goodies, a range of leaflets and, of course, help from the people who man it.
But times change and so does the way we live and St Edmundsbury Borough Council has decided to close the building and continue its tourism advice through other outlets such as The Apex, Moyse’s Hall and other visitor attractions.
I hope the personal touch shown at the TIC will continue albeit in another location.
While the wonderful world wide web rules, we do still need to remember the charming helpful person who pointed the way to this event or that landmark we were seeking.
Let’s hope that will continue.
