And finally ... some positive news. Yes, Bury St Edmunds has been shortlisted as one of the UK’s High Streets of the year.
That’s excellent news for this part of West Suffolk. It also shows that the very special ‘offer’ which Bury has is recognised on a much wider stage than purely Suffolk.
The beauty of Bury St Edmunds is that people care – shopkeepers, workers, residents, the council in its many guises and the town’s leaders.
Each contributes to the success of Bury St Edmunds in his or her own way. When there’s a problem, the whole community joins and tries to find a solution.
In coming to a final decision, retail guru Mary Portas should walk round Bury either on market day or on a free-after-3 parking night. Then she would see our very local success story.
