VISITS by Olympians past and present have brought the London 2012 Games to life for students at Moreton Hall Preparatory School.

June saw Colin Oates, a member of the current GB judo team, visit the school in Mount Road, where he delivered an inspirational talk to pupils and allowed the young judo players to ‘floor him’.

Then, three weeks ago, former Olympian Michael Crowe was invited to present awards at the school, where his three grandchildren, Grace, Merlin and Monte Stamper, attend.

The 69-year-old, who played hockey for Team GB in the 1972 Olympics, said: “I was really thrilled to be asked.”

He spoke of his sporting achievements but said his proof, medals, pictures and clothes, were on display at Moyse’s Hall Museum, in Bury St Edmunds.

The school also raised £1,000 towards its new classroom development with a sponsored 24-hour run last month.
