Hundreds braved the gloomy skies, grabbed their buckets and spades and made their way Stowmarket’s annual Beach Party on Saturday.
The event, now in its third year, saw a host of activities take place at the town’s recreation ground including free donkey rides, bouncy castles, Punch and Judy shows and a huge outdoor sandpit.
For the second time the event also included the Golden Mile race organised by the Stowmarket Striders where around 250 competitors took on a mile-long course around the town.
David Marsh, organiser of the Beach Party, said: “The Golden Mile is fast becoming my favourite part of the event.
“It was amazing, running through the town with the crowd cheering was absolutely fantastic.”
David said the beach party was a big success with hundreds turning out to take part in the fun.
“Again we weren’t blessed with the weather.
“It could have been better but it could have been much worse.
“The sandpit was as popular as ever.
“Of all the things we have down there the number of children we had to drag away from the sandpit was incredible”
