A SERVICE to help people deal with credit debts has been launched following a £60,000 grant.
The CASHflow initiative, which has been supported by the West Suffolk Partnership, offers those in financial difficulties the chance to review their debts at an early stage before they become unmanageable.
It aims to give people the skills they need to negotiate with creditors and organise their own budget.
The scheme is being delivered through Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB) in Bury St Edmunds, Mildenhall and Brandon.
It uses an online programme to analyse an individual’s income, outgoings and debts to create an approved financial statement and work out a system of repayments.
Janine Pinel, operations manager at Bury CAB, said: “Debt can have a devastating impact on people leading to homelessness, relationship breakdowns, domestic violence and mental health problems. Our aim is to help people avoid those scenarios by working with them at an early stage.”
The West Suffolk Partnership has been established to ensure the area is able to respond to changes in national policy.
