Norfolk Police have announced their choice for a new Chief Constable.

Deputy Chief Constable Simon Bailey has been nominated to take on the role after holding the position of temporary Chief Constable since June this year.

His nomination will be confirmed by the Police and Crime Panel on October 25.

Mr Bailey is the first Chief Constable for Norfolk who has risen through the ranks from Pc to Chief Constable. He has been a police officer for 27 years serving predominantly as a detective. In 1998 he was seconded to the National Crime Squad, managing covert operations at national and international level targeting serious and organised crime gangs.

Mr Bailey is married with two children and said: “I am truly delighted to be chosen as the preferred candidate for the role of Chief Constable and look forward to the opportunity to speak in front of members of the Police and Crime Panel next month.”
