THE inside of Bury St Edmunds railway station could be getting a make-over.
Plans to carry out internal alterations at the historic listed building have been submitted to the planning department at St Edmundsbury Council.
Proposals include removing internal partitioning to increase the public space, redecorating, refurbishing the toilets and stairwells and providing new information screens, help points and improved CCTV.
National Express East Anglia has applied for the changes to improve access at the station and to ‘improve the condition and aesthetic qualities of the building’s internal areas’. The application states that it does not impact on the station’s heritage.
