THE new leader of the Salvation Army corps in Stowmarket is Major Diane Henderson who will be appointed at a special service on Sunday.

Diane replaces Major Karen Robb who is moving to the Salvation Army’s north east division as director of personnel.

This is a return to Suffolk for Diane as she lead the Norton corps here between 1987 and 1992.

She came into the Salvation Army as a young person who had struggled with drug addiction and pledged her life to God. She has an adopted daughter Uluthando Majola, four, whose South African mother died suddenly and Thando was left in need of care. During Diane’s ministry she oversaw pioneering projects for teenagers and clubbers in Cheltenham as well as setting up a midweek toddler group.
