A new classroom block has been officially opened at Woolpit Primary to accommodate extra pupils in the move to two tier education in the Thurston area.

Suffolk County Cllr Jane Storey, chairman of the education scrutiny committee, cut the ribbon to launch the building for the new Year 5 and eventual Year 6 children.

The school also boasts an improved play area to make up for the loss of playground space due to the new build.

Year 5 is being taught by Francesca Martin, who joined Woolpit from Ixworth Middle.

Head Karen Sewell said: “We’re thrilled with the quality of the building and the new opportunities it creates.”
