THE new chairman of Norfolk County Council has vowed to put the Brecks in the spotlight.
Ian Monson was sworn in as chairman at County Hall, in Norwich, on Tuesday and promised to promote the area in which he lives.
“It is a less well known part of Norfolk, rich in biodiversity and wildlife, making it a very special and interesting area for potential tourism,” he said.
Cllr Monson was elected as chairman by council members and will serve for the next year.
Current chairman of the Ecotech Centre in Swaffham, he said he would be supporting recycling and volunteering.
“I would like to champion the army of volunteers who work so hard on our behalf in so many different ways.
“In particular, I would like to work with those who do so much to conserve our resources by renewing, reusing and recycling materials that would otherwise go to waste,” he said.
Cllr Monson was elected to Norfolk County Council in 2001 and served as cabinet member for environment and waste for five years.
