New author Doreen Young will launch a collection of stories with a book signing at Waterstones in Buttermarket, Bury St Edmunds, from 11am-2pm on Saturday.
Thirty Three Good Mornings and other stories, published by Arima and available on Amazon, is the result of 18 months work while Mrs Young, 70, was recovering from operations.
Though some might say writing for the mother-of-two from Bury, who starred as the wartime teacher in the BBC TV series Evacuation, was an inevitable craft.
Her husband, Alan, is a novelist, their son Francis’ book English Catholics and the Supernatural 1540-1829 was published in February and their daughter, Naomi, has recently had work published in an International Journal of Research.
In her foreword, Mrs Young said: “Before my illness, I had not written at all, and my family were surprised to find that I had discovered an occupation which gave me a smile on my face and a passion for a new-found craft.”
