A group of 15 young people taking part in National Citizen Service will be hosting an event to raise awareness of important issues that have affected all their lives.
“We decided that mental health and domestic abuse were things our whole group had either come across or been part of,” explained Sophie Winch, 16.
She added: “It was very eye-opening because we found out things about different people we wouldn’t be able to see on the outside.
“It made us realise things are happening in our lives that are hidden by our physical forms.”
The ‘remaster’ event, in aid of Bury’s Women’s Aid Centre, Rethink Mental Illness and Mankind, will take place at the Hunter Club, in Bury, on Friday (September 5) from 7pm-10.30pm.
The night will feature entertainment from local bands, including Mercury Skies, and speakers from the three chosen charities who will be offering audience members a glimpse at the difficulties experienced by some of the people they have encountered.
Tickets include food and are priced at £8 for adults or £7 for concessions, with group discounts available.
