A marketing campaign to encourage people to visit Bury St Edmunds has proven so successful that the organisation behind it is changing its name.
Bid4Bury, the Business Improvement District (BID) which runs the Ourburystedmunds campaign will be known as Ourburystedmunds from October 1.
Chairman Andrew Speed said: “The organisation is all about Bury St Edmunds and the old name didn’t reflect that – we were finding some people from further afield even thought we were something to do with Bury in Lancashire.
“Ourburystedmunds sums up what the BID is all about – we all contribute to it so it really is our Bury St Edmunds.”
BID Chief Executive Mark Cordell said: “The success of Ourburystedmunds has meant we have found ourselves with two brands. We have had to use two different logos at times and there was a danger that it was all going to become somewhat confusing.
“I’d like to reassure the businesses in the town that fund Ourburystedmunds that nothing else changes and we will continue to offer the support, services and events that have worked so well for the town.”
