Museum for gold ring

A METAL detectorist stumbled across an exciting find in a field in Lakenheath, a treasure trove inquest heard.

Steven Wright, 41, from Thetford, found the 15th century gold finger ring while metal detecting with a friend.

The ring was recorded as treasure by Suffolk Coroner, Dr Peter Dean, at the inquest at the Active Business Centre, in Bury St Edmunds, on Wednesday.

Moyse’s Hall Museum has shown an interest in the ring, which is unusual because it is complete and has an image of the annunciation engraved on the side.

Mr Wright, who found the gold ring, said: “I nearly fainted.

“You never know if there is going to be something there.”
