MILDENHALL Museum might be familiar with looking back, but now it is taking a look in the mirror – and needs your help.
The museum is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and is putting together a special project to celebrate.
Nick Spencer, exhibition coordinator for the museum, is curating a collection of pieces of the past related to the museum and is putting out an appeal to the public.
Nick said: “Anyone with anything pertaining to the museum over the years, its founders or the original society, is urged to get in touch.
“We are looking for photos, cards, tickets, newsletters – anything that helps us tell the story of the museum.
“There must be readers of the Bury Free Press out there who have clippings.”
The Mildenhall and District Museum opened in 1951 as part of local events for the Festival of Britain.
Through his preliminary research, Nick says he has already found some examples of what he is after – but says there are big gaps that need filling.
“It’s a major job and no easy task for one person so stuff gets missed – I know for example that we do not have anything on the visit of Vera Lynn in 2009,” he said.
The museum hopes to have an exhibition ready at the end of June.
