A MOTHER and full-time carer has beaten the odds by earning herself a place at university.

Sarah Watson, 37, from Feltwell, will study English and History at the University Campus Suffolk in Bury St Edmunds after completing an Access course at West Suffolk College.

Sarah passed the course while juggling her responsibilities for the care of son Ryan, three, and 18-year-old step-son Nathan who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair.

She said: “I am so happy. Now I have completed the Access course, the sky is the limit.”

Having left school with no ambition to go to university, Sarah was among 64 students who completed the Access course and now have the chance to earn a degree.

Mary Clements, course lecturer said: “Sarah has been totally committed and worked exceptionally hard, achieving great success on the course.”

Ms Clements said Sarah’s example was an ‘inspiration’.

Sarah will start her course in September.
