Rain may stop play in their sport but it takes more than that to stop Bury St Edmunds Cricket Club’s new pavilion rising on the skyline at the Victory Ground.

Club Chairman Paul Whitaker said: “The weather has been astonishingly bad for building, but the contractors have done a fantastic job and we’re pretty much on schedule.”

The £2 million project should be finished by October and is a joint project that will not only provide the club with a pavillion but serve as a community hall while including a sports pavilion for South Lees School.

At present cricket, football, croquet, tennis and hockey clubs use the Victory Ground but the new facility will accommodate even more sports in an purposed-designed eco-friendly building
