MORE than 80 car lovers went on a Mini adventure on Sunday in a charity drive.

Bury St Edmunds Mini Club took a fund-raising convoy on the 60-mile journey from the Ram Meadow car park to the sea front at Aldeburgh.

Putting rising fuel costs to one side, 83 drivers managed to raise more than £500 for the Rainbow Ward at West Suffolk Hospital, Aldeburgh United Charities and male cancer charity, Orchid.

Richard Mortlock, event organiser, said the day was a success.

“It was a good day – we had a huge range of Minis from the old to the new,” he said.

Money was raised through entry fees and a prize draw, with winners taking away almost £500 worth of goodies donated by sponsors.

A prize was presented for the best Mini on show, with the Mayor of Aldeburgh handing it over.
