MILDENHALL Town manager Christian Appleford has backed his players to regain their winning form, following a run of three games without claiming a victory.

Town were dumped out of the FA Cup on Saturday by Brantham Athletic with an emphatic 4-0 defeat, which was followed up on Tuesday night with a disappointing 1-1 draw in the league against Hadleigh United, with Owen Paynter grabbing the goal for the hosts.

However despite being out of form, Appleford is confident of turning things around as he targets a better start in the league than last season.

He said: “Our football has been great but we aren’t getting those results, However we are confident we can get back to winning ways.

“I am still taking things month by month in terms of expectations. If we can get a better start than we had last season after the first ten games then we will be in good shape. That will be key for us. “If we continue to play like we have I am confident we will be giving someone a backlash because, the chances are being created, but we just need to the ball away.”

The manager will be hoping the backlash will be evident when the team travel to Wivenhoe Town tomorrow (3pm) and host Walsham-le-Willows on Tuesday (7.45pm)..
