Mike Ames receives British Empire Medal

Bury St Edmunds’ Mike Ames has been presented with a British Empire Medal in recognition of his relentless services to the community.

Mr Ames also served as chairman of Bury In Bloom for 25 years, is involved in the Bury Heritage Trust and chairman of the Victory Sport Ground Ltd, Guildhall Feoffment School governing board as well as Just Traid in the town.

Meanwhile, Muriel Healey, board member of Havebury Housing Partnership, also received a British Empire Medal for services to tenants.
