BUSINESSES in Mid Suffolk are greener than ever after recycling a record-breaking 103 tonnes of material.

The figures, for April 2010 to April 2011, have been released by the Mid Suffolk District Council’s (MSDC) trade waste and recycling service.

Cllr Roy Barker, MSDC portfolio holder for waste, said: “The service is just what the district needs at the moment, it offers businesses a viable and sustainable way to reduce the waste they send to land fill whilst reducing the overall cost of disposal – everyone benefits.”

The figures show that almost two tonnes of waste per week is being recycled thanks to the range of materials accepted in the bins and a pricing structure which encourages businesses to maximise their recycling efforts.
