The event, in Old Market Street, starts with a procession at noon from the playing field led by May Princess Scarlett Rush and her attendants Sofia Sorhaindo and Bethany Baker accompanied by St Mary’s Church May Queen and Stowmarket Boys Brigade Band.

Other highlight during the fayre, which runs until 5pm, include bygone farm machinery, the Urban Allstar Majorettes, Mad Hare Marching Band, bouncy castle and hog roast.

There is also a grand draw, birds of prey, East Suffolk Morris Men, the Harbour Lights Band and ‘6 foot 3’ steppers plus children’s entertainer The Tricky Twister.

Admission is £3 for adults and those aged under 16 are free.
