Men bailed following straw stack arson in Hawkedon

Three men arrested in connection with an arson in Hawkedon have been released on police bail.

Police arrested three men from Haverhill on suspicion of arson after a stack of bales was deliberately set alight in a field in Rede Road, opposite the veterinary surgery, at 3.45pm on Tuesday (October 28).

The men, aged 19, 21 and 23, were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where they have been bailed to return to on December 12, pending further enquiries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly anybody who saw any suspicious vehicles in the village that afternoon.
