AN MP has proved he’s willing to go the extra mile for constituents after winning an award.
Matthew Hancock, MP for West Suffolk, came top of the walkers in a competition organised by the Silver Star diabetes awareness charity.
Pedometers were worn by 127 MPs for five days as they went about their business and Mr Hancock came out on top.
He said: “I was surprised and delighted to find out that I am the MP who walks the farthest.
“I often feel rushed off my feet working for my constituents and it is nice to be rewarded for it.
“Silver Star does wonderful and important work promoting awareness of diabetes and I am happy to have had a chance to contribute to awareness of diabetes in this way.”
The competition was put on to promote health and activity in people’s daily lives.
Mr Hancock received his award last Wednesday.
