THE second book in Mary McGuire’s trilogy for teenagers has been published within days of the first being shortlisted for an award.
Mary, of Northgate Street, Bury St Edmunds, had her first book in her K’Barthan trilogy, called Few Are Chosen, published by Hamgee University Press in September 2010.
The second, The Wrong Stuff, went on sale last Thursday just days after Mary had received an email saying that Few are Chosen had been shortlisted in the Teen Fiction category of The Wishing Shelf Independent Book Awards.
“The panel judging mine is a group of school children in London,” she said.
“The teenagers picked it, which is quite nice. I’m cock-a-hoop.”
The trilogy is about an orphan called Pan of Hamgee in the dictatorship of K’Barth.
The only thing Pan can do to survive is getaway driving. Having the ability to see behind him comes in useful in his new job, driving flying cars, and he helps the chosen one Ruth escape from the despot ruler Lord Vernon.
The pair are on the run in the second book.
Waterstones in the arc will The Wrong Stuff and both books are available on Amazon.
